It was America’s prohibition era... think 1920s gangster cool. The Cotton Club was the chic meeting spot for celebrities ranging from Jimmy Durante and George Gershwin to Al Jolson and Mae West. And the entertainment was provided by music stars of the day like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday.
